About us

State job preparation, finally made clear.

StateHireReady was created to help California State-job applicants understand that applying for a State position can involve much more than submitting a good résumé. Every vacancy may carry its own classification information, eligibility path, minimum qualifications, examination or assessment information, required documents, Statement of Qualifications instructions, deadlines and special requirements.

We bring those pieces into one preparation system, so applicants can understand the particular job they want, see what the posting actually asks for and build a clear plan before applying.

We are independent

StateHireReady is an independent career-preparation company, built to work entirely in the applicant's interest. We answer to you — not to the State of California, CalHR, CalCareers, the State Personnel Board or any hiring department.

Official eligibility, examination and hiring decisions belong to the State, and their sources are always the final word. We make sure you walk in knowing exactly what those sources ask of you.

Our purpose

Helping you get the State job you want.

Our purpose is to help applicants land California State positions — by making the process clear, organized and genuinely approachable. We help you identify what a particular vacancy actually requires, understand where that information came from, and prepare for it one step at a time.

We want you hired.

That means putting forward the strongest, most complete and most truthful application you are capable of: catching every requirement, gathering every document, organizing real evidence of your experience, and walking into the interview genuinely prepared.

The State makes the hiring decision. Our job is to make sure that when they look at your application, they see everything you have — complete, accurate and exactly what the posting asked for. That is the part you control, and it is the part we are relentless about.

Why we exist

Because there is far more to it than a résumé.

Most people apply for a State job believing the same three things will carry them: a good résumé, the right qualifications, and a solid exam score. Those matter. They are the foundation. But they are the beginning of the process, not the whole of it.

Getting hired by the State is a process with rules — and the rules are learnable.

Which classification the position sits in. Which eligibility path applies to you. How the STD 678 differs from a résumé. What the duty statement is really asking for. How an SOQ is structured and scored. Which documents this department expects, in what format, submitted which way, by when. How a panel evaluates the answer you give out loud.

Every one of those is something you can learn and master — and together they are what separates a strong application from a winning one. That is what we teach, and that is what StateHireReady puts in front of you for the exact job you want.

What we do

One clear system for State job preparation.

StateHireReady helps applicants move from finding a job to understanding, preparing, reviewing and applying for it.

01Analyze the individual job

Share a job link, paste the posting text or upload your materials. The Job Analyzer pulls out the vacancy details, applicant instructions, required documents, deadlines, formatting rules and special conditions — and tells you where each one came from.

02Build a Dynamic Job Checklist

Every requirement found in your posting becomes a clear, checkable action — sorted into what is needed now, needed later, desirable or optional, so you always know exactly what to do next.

03Follow the 12 Rules

Our educational preparation framework organizes the major parts of State-job readiness, while the Dynamic Job Checklist handles the exact posting in front of you.

04Track your progress

The StateHireReady Score shows how much of this job's preparation you have completed, so you always know where you stand and what to work on next.

05Coach your strongest answers

The Coach helps you decode what an instruction is really asking, structure your SOQ, draw out the strongest real examples from your own experience, and rehearse for the panel — all built on your genuine background and this posting's actual requirements.

06Review before applying

The Final Review runs twice: it rereads the official materials to catch every instruction, then checks your finished package against the verified checklist — so you submit knowing it is complete.

Our story · draft for your approval

I couldn't get the job. So I found out why.

I applied for California State jobs and I didn't get them. I thought my exam score and my education would speak for themselves — that being qualified was the hard part and the rest would take care of itself. I was wrong.

What I learned is that State hiring runs on a set of rules — and once you can see them, they work in your favor. The classification decides your qualifications, so knowing it tells you exactly what to prove. Page limits and required documents are stated plainly, so meeting them is entirely within your control. Every instruction is already there, spread across the posting, the duty statement, the classification specification and the attachments. What was missing was the checklist.

So I built the checklist. StateHireReady is the system I wish I'd had: it reads the job you actually want, tells you exactly what that vacancy requires, and shows you what is still outstanding while you still have time to handle it. Your experience gets to speak for itself — because everything around it is airtight.

Draft in your voice, for your approval — edit any line. Nothing here claims a government role, an official endorsement or a hiring outcome. Add your name and a portrait when you're ready.
